As Texas cleans up after Hurricane Harvey, the northeastern Caribbean braces for a battering as Hurricane Irma is expected to make landfall on Tuesday.

1. Tropical terror: Hurricane Irma, which grew into a Category 4 storm Monday, is expected to make landfall today, bringing howling winds, driving rain and towering waves to the northeastern Caribbean.

2. After the flood: As floodwaters recede and cleanup efforts begin, the Houston area may be facing an acute housing crisis. The number of dead being blamed on Harvey has also risen at least 60 deaths.

3. Nuclear nemeses: South Korean warships conducted live-fire exercises at sea on Tuesday in a second straight day of military swagger following North Korea’s latest -- and largest ever -- nuclear test. On Monday, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said the reclusive nation's leader is "begging for war."

4. Ashes and anguish: Two Ontario sisters are making an emotional plea for the return of an urn containing their mother’s ashes after it went missing during a furniture sale at their elderly father’s home.

5. Garth's guitar: Country music superstar Garth Brooks paused his Calgary concert on Friday to give a signed guitar to a woman holding a simple cardboard sign that read, “Today my son is cancer-free.”
