We've rounded up the top five things to know as you head out the door: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will meet the Pope; U.S. President Trump is eyeing a White House overhaul; more arrests in Manchester; a 400-km chase for a stolen ambulance; and the shortage of autism service dogs.

Plus, for “Money Monday,” a look at the pros and cons of paying down your mortgage or investing the money.

1. Trudeau and the Pope:  Prime Minister Justin Trudeau plans to raise reconciliation with indigenous peoples and the global fight against climate change when he meets with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Monday. Trudeau is expected to ask the pontiff to issue a formal apology in Canada for the role of the Catholic Church in the residential school system.

2. Scheer victory: The new official Opposition leader Andrew Scheer makes his debut in the House of Commons Monday, but he's already had his first chat with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. But, after a victory speech peppered with attacks on the PM, the Liberals have wasted no time branding him an extremist.

3. Trump eyes overhaul: Following his trip to the Middle East and Europe, U.S.President Donald Trump is considering overhauling his White House staff and bringing back top campaign strategists. Trump is said to be frustrated by his team's inability to contain the controversy surrounding Russian meddling in the presidential election.

4. Dangerous joyride: A 29-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing an ambulance from an Ontario hospital and leading officers on a five-hour, 400-kilometre chase. Police were eventually able to stop the rogue emergency vehicle with a spike strip.

5. Service dogs:  For children with autism, a service dog can be just the friend they need. But the organizations that train these dogs are so overwhelmed, wait times for service animals at some locations span years, while others have closed their lists altogether.

And one more thing for “Money Monday”: Should you pay down your mortgage or invest your money? Financial planners offer some guidance on making the tough choice.
