Here are 5 things to know before you start the work week: Canada Post workers are refusing to work overtime if a deal is not made; most of the Nunavut Liberal executive has quit; a Waterloo company has created a device to get rid of mosquitos carrying the Zika virus; Canadian Blood Services urgently needs 32,000 donations before Labour Day; and two United Airlines pilots were arrested on suspicion of intoxication.

1. Canada Post: Late on Sunday night, the union representing Canada Post workers said it has given the government a 24-hour extension to agree to a deal before it begins job action.

2. Volunteers quit: Most of the Nunavut Liberal executive has quit in the aftermath of Hunter Tootoo leaving the party over his inappropriate relationship with a staffer.

3. Fight against Zika: A Waterloo, Ont. company has created a device designed to destroy mosquito eggs and help in the fight against the Zika virus. They are donating hundreds of the device to the state of Florida which has seen 40 cases, so far, of the virus.

4. Call for blood: Canadian Blood Services has put out an urgent appeal for 32,000 donations before Labour Day to maintain a “comfortable” level of inventory. The national inventory has dropped significantly this summer.

5. Intoxicated pilots: Two United Airlines pilots were arrested on suspicion of intoxication before their flight in Scotland this weekend. Just last month, two Air Transat pilots were arrested at the same airport on the same charge.
