Here are the five things you need to know this Thursday: Prime Minister Stephen Harper is meeting the pope today with Canadian Aboriginal leaders calling on him to have the papacy apologize for residential schools; an Ontario senator is under investigation; the Supreme Court is set to issue a verdict on edible marijuana; the Arizona Coyotes have been unceremoniously dumped out of their arena; and a senator looks to phase out the captivity of whales and dolphins.

Plus, today we have #LifeHack Thursday tips and tricks on how to access the fountain of youth.

1. PM meets the Pope: Stephen Harper will meet with Pope Francis in the Vatican today, as calls grow back home for a papal apology related to the Catholic Church’s role in Canada’s residential school legacy. AFN Chief Perry Bellegarde said the meeting provides a “prime opportunity” for the prime minister to raise the issue. Having the Pope travel to Canada to deliver a formal apology was one of 94 recommendations made last week, when the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its report on the residential school system.

2. Under investigation: Sen. Don Meredith is under investigation for allegations of workplace sexual harassment and bullying. Four of his former female employees and four other Senate staffers allege he made sexual advances, used sexual innuendo and was often rude and vindictive.

3. Top court to weigh in on edible weed: The Supreme Court of Canada will weigh in today on whether consuming medical marijuana as a butter, brownie or tea is a constitutional right. Federal health laws currently limit legal use of medical marijuana to its dried form, meaning pot-based extracts or edibles can result in trafficking or possession charges. The case stems from Owen Smith, a Victoria man who was charged in 2009 with possessing THC for the purpose of trafficking while working as the head baker for the Cannabis Buyers Club of Canada.

4. Kicked out: The Arizona Coyotes will need to find a new place to play hockey. Glendale City Council voted late on Wednesday night to end the city’s lease agreement with the team, prompting a backlash from the team’s ownership.

5. Phasing out: Sen. Wilfred Moore is holding a press conference today to discuss his new bill focused on phasing out the captivity of whales and dolphins.
