A small earthquake shook the ground near Ottawa early Saturday evening, but there were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.
Natural Resources Canada confirmed on its website that a 3.1-magnitude earthquake occurred 17 kilometres north of Ottawa, near Gatineau, Que., at 5:47 p.m. local time.
Some Ottawa-area residents took to social media to say they felt tremors in their homes.
